Membership Application
Membership in the New Mexico Cancer Council is open to anyone who is interested in reducing the negative toll cancer takes on the populations of New Mexico including public health, education, research, treatment, academic and business sectors. There is no fee to join the Council.
2020 – 2024 New Mexico Cancer Plan
The plan includes goals, objectives and strategies that span a continuum of cancer control encompassing prevention, early detection and screening, informed decision-making, elimination of disparities, access to care, quality of life and effective coordination and collaboration among cancer control organizations. A separate section focuses on the cancer-related needs and strengths specific to tribal communities called Implementing the New Mexico Cancer Plan in Native American Communities. This section has been created by the New Mexico Cancer Council’s Native American Workgroup and is also a standalone, separate document.
Strategies in these two documents include, but are not limited to, promoting healthy lifestyle habits, detecting cancers at earlier stages, improving treatments, improving the prognosis and quality of life for cancer patients, improving survivorship care planning services and increasing access to health and social services.
These documents are intended to be relevant, timely, user-friendly and valuable resources that can be used by broad audiences including public health practitioners, advocates, educators, medical providers and others involved in all areas of cancer control in New Mexico.
